In our Preschool Room, we prepare children for their transition to school through a balance of educational activities, play-based learning, and growing independence. We work closely with families, holding regular parent meetings and termly progress updates. Our dedicated SEN Inclusion Manager supports children with special educational needs, working alongside the council, health professionals, and specialists to ensure the highest level of care and support.Preschoolers are encouraged to be independent through tasks such as:
Scraping their plates and washing up Washing hands and faces Tidying and self-care routines Learning to take coats and shoes on and off using simple techniques
Children enjoy small local outings, nature exploration across both fields, and activities such as bug hunting and real-world discovery. Each child participates in focused learning sessions tailored to their individual needs, along with weekly football or basketball visits from external coaches.Their Learning Journey continues in Preschool, with observations and next steps shared on the Nursery App.The preschool environment is rich with resources to support child-led play. Children can freely explore and create their own play scenarios, developing imagination, social skills, and confidence. We enjoy daily carpet time sessions where we learn about days of the week, weather, celebrations, and special events. To support school readiness, children have access to a wide range of materials such as name-writing cards, number flashcards, and other early learning tools that build foundational skills.
